Deathless - The Time To Be Immortal (2000)

 

 Deathless was born in the beginning of 1.995. By that year, the band was Emilio Cañas (vocals), José Contreras and Michael Fidalgo (guitars), Antonio J. Cantos (bass) and Jose Luis González (drums). 

Early, under the monicker of Line of Fire, the band recorded a one song demo (Law of fire) and a three song demo called "World's Heartbeat". The band played five shows, all of them from January to Juny 1.994.

In the beginning of 1.995, the band looked back and decided to make some changes, as the monicker itself (It comes to be "Deathless") and give a different way to all the songs the band had by that moment.

During 1.995-1.996, we recorded a master. Eight songs with Climent Montserrat at "Estudios Panorama". That master was mixed in september '96 with Peter W. Eichenberg as engineer, Climent Montserrat as assistant and Deathless (with Peter and Ciment) as producers.

In 1.996, we were featured in an underground compilation called "Blessed by the dark, comp."

In May and June 1997, the band takes part in the "5é Concurs de Rock de Mataró"(a local rock contest). Deathless was classified, together five more bands, between a total of 186 contestants (contestants chosen among several hundreds of bands). Finally, after playing live on June 27, we got the second place.

At the end of 1.997, the band signs a two records deal with Pulverised Records from Singapore. The first of these cds was recorded later with Tomas Skogsberg at Sunlight Studios from Stockholm, Sweden.

The well-known Spanish Fanzine Black Rites, now Black Light, includes our song Razing Life (Demo) and several pictures in a compilation cd-r, released with the third issue.

In American Sounds Of Death (S.O.D.) issue number 12, Deathless was featured in a Pulverised Records compilation. Here you can find two songs, "Tortures deep inside my mind" and "Two ways" from the then forthcoming first album "The time to be immortal".

In summer 1.999, Pulverised Records informs the band about the bad economical times the label is suffering so they give the band the option to search for another label or just wait till things get better. The band buy the recording and all the copyrights and look for a label.

The band signs a contract for this cd and another one with Goldtrack Records from Madrid, Spain and "The time to be immortal" is finally released on March 2000.

On May 2.001, Dark Angel Records from Thailand, license the cd to release it in cassette format. 

Deathless has been featured in several compilations as "Goldtrack Records Sampler #1", "VampiriaZine #5", "Necromance Magazine 2/2000, Pure underground #6", "The grimoire of exalted deeds #6, War dance"

Actually, the band has recorded a four tracks demo full of new stuff since we have a total of eleven new songs to be recorded on a new second cd. This new demo has been recorded to look for a new label now that Goldtrack Records cant pay any money to release a new Deathless cd.

The band was chose together eleven more metal bands to take part of the 14º Concurso Villa de Bilbao (The most important Spanish musical contest). We played live in March 2.002, in the Bilborock venue, where Nuria Navarro played live for the first time with Deathless as our new keyboardist.

On July 2.002, Jose Luis left the band beacuse of musical differences with the rest of the band and a month later, Carlos Climent (Purgatorys Troop drummer too) joins Deathless.

On November, Nuria leaves Deathless and in December 2.002 Miquel J.Llodrà replaces her.

On June03, Dark Angel Records releases "The sounds of the new world", a collection of demos and on August, CD-Maximum re-issues "The time to be immortal" plus four bonus tracks taken from "Promo 2002”.

Diabolic - Subterraneal Magnitude [digipack] (2001)

The earliest beginnings of Diabolic started in 1996, when drummer Aantar Coates (Exmortis, Horror of Horrors, Unholy Ghost, Blastmasters) teamed up with guitarist Kelly McLauchlin (Pessimist, Unholy Ghost, Possessed) to record the first 4-song Diabolic demo. Although this demo was never officially released, and sent only to select contacts in the underground, it marked the beginning of success to follow for the band.

By January 1997, Diabolic drummer/founder Aantar Coates had relocated to Tampa, Florida and after forming the first complete lineup, recorded and released the successful demo City of the Dead. This demo immediately got the band noticed in the worldwide underground press and was later released as MCD on Fadeless Records. By 1998, Diabolic made their debut live appearance opening for Vader in Tampa, Florida followed by Milwaukee Metalfest XII. The lineup was soon solidified to include Aantar Coates on drums, Paul Ouellette on lead guitar and vocals, Brian Malone on lead guitars, and Ed Webb on bass.

In 1999, Diabolic recorded their debut full-length album Supreme Evil. This CD, which was mastered at Morrisound Recording Studios in Tampa and featured the artwork of Joe Petagno (Motörhead, Marduk, Krisiun), was released on Conquest/Hammerheart Records and received a multitude of excellent reviews and established an enormous international underground following for the band. More live shows soon followed, and the band continued gaining notoriety and writing for their next release.

The following year in 2000, Diabolic recorded their second full-length album Subterraneal Magnitude, again released on Conquest/Hammerheart Records. Produced by Juan "Punchy" Gonzalez (Morbid Angel, Terrorizer), this album expanded the unique Diabolic sound to new extremes. By this time, vocalist Paul Ouellette had switched to bass, and the band had recruited Brian Hipp (Brutality, Cradle of Filth, Acheron) on lead guitars. It once again featured the art of Joe Petagno.

Diabolic was soon enlisted for the "Death Metal Massacre Tour 2000", opening for Cannibal Corpse, God Dethroned and Hate Eternal, playing to sold-out venues for four weeks, all across the USA. In 2001, Diabolic was honored to be chosen for the prestigious Metal Maniacs "Xmass Ball Tour 2001", opening for Enslaved and Macabre (which included a one-off with Lacuna Coil), followed by a 3-week North American Tour of the U.S. and Canada, supporting Marduk and Amon Amarth. Later that same year, Diabolic was hand-picked to open several dates across the southern U.S. with death metal pioneers Morbid Angel. 

In 2002, Diabolic signed to Century Media/Olympic Records and surpassed all earlier releases with their third CD, Vengeance Ascending. Once again produced by Juan "Punchy" Gonzalez, this devastating attack redefined extreme metal in a relentless onslaught of anger, vengeance, and victory. Again this CD featured the art of Joe Petagno, and new lead guitarist recruit Jerry Mortellaro. The band then departed on a month-long, sold-out U.S. Tour supporting Dimmu Borgir, Cryptopsy, and Krisiun, further solidifying the band as one of the underground's most ferocious upcoming death metal acts. In November 2002 Diabolic made their European debut, for a month-long tour of 10 countries in support of Behemoth, Deströyer 666, and Deicide.

By 2003, and after the European Tour, the band had gone through several major lineup changes. Gone was the original lineup, who had all been replaced. Led by sole remaining original member Brian Malone, the band recorded their fourth full-length CD, Infinity Through Purification. Produced by Neil Kernon (Cannibal Corpse, Nile, Judas Priest) and released on Century Media Records, but without the trademark Diabolic of the past it garnered lackluster reviews. The band had even secured an opening slot on Deicide's upcoming U.S. Tour, but soon after the album's release, it was announced that the band was being dissolved permanently. It seemed that this would be the end of Diabolic.

Bryan Hipp

 

 Bryan Hipp (January 22, 1968 – October 21, 2006) was an extreme metal guitarist. He played in the bands Brutality (1993–1995), Cradle of Filth (1994–1995), Acheron (1998), Unholy Ghost, Diabolic (1999) and Blastmasters.

He was one of the many people to assume the live role of the fictional "Jared Demeter" during his time with Cradle of Filth; after leaving the band, he was replaced by Paul McGlone.

Hipp died on October 21, 2006.

Krisiun - Ageless Venomous (2001)

 

 All three members Moyses, Max, and Alex are brothers. Alex uses his father's surname, Camargo, whereas his brothers use their mother's surname, Kolesne. On the EP Unmerciful Order, all three brothers are credited with the surname Kolesne.

The band was a four-piece until 1994, when they decided that they worked better as a three-piece after Mauricio Nogueira left, forming the trio which has stayed constant to this day.

The band's name Krisiun is based upon the "Mare Crisium" (sea of crises), a moon crater. It plays a major role in Arthur C. Clarke's sci-fi novel The Sentinel, which was later partly adapted to become the well-known movie 2001: A Space Odyssey.

 Ageless Venomous is the fourth album by Brazilian death metal band Krisiun. The album cover artwork was done by Joe Petagno, the same artist who created Motörhead's War-Pig logo

In Flames - The Jester Race (1996)

 

 The Jester Race is the second studio album by Swedish heavy metal band In Flames, released in February 1996. It is the first album to feature Anders Fridén as the band's vocalist, Björn Gelotte as the drummer, and Jester Head as the band's mascot.

The Jester Race was recorded at Studio Fredman by Fredrik Nordström, who also contributed keyboards for the album.

The song "Dead Eternity" was originally on their 1995 EP, Subterranean. "Dead God in Me" was also originally on Subterranean but with a different title, "The Inborn Lifeless", as well as different lyrics, a different ending, and a slightly different solo.

A remixed version of the song "Moonshield" was released on the EP Trigger. A video for the song "Artifacts of the Black Rain" was also released. 

In Flames, along with At the Gates and Dark Tranquillity, pioneered what is now known as melodic death metal, or the Gothenburg sound (since all of them came from that city).

In 1990, Jesper Strömblad founded the band to write music that combined the melodic guitar style of Iron Maiden with the brutality of death metal, something which Jesper stated he had never heard any band do.

In 1993, In Flames wrote, recorded, and self-produced their debut studio album, Lunar Strain. Since In Flames did not have a vocalist yet, Jesper asked Mikael Stanne (Dark Tranquillity) to provide vocals. In Flames would eventually need another vocalist for the recording of the EP Subterranean; this time Henke Forss would do the job. However, it wasn't until 1995 that the current vocalist Anders Fridén (Dark Tranquillity) joined the band.

Björn Gelotte originally joined as a drummer, then switched to guitars a few years (and albums) later.

The Jester Race was recorded and became a classic melodic death metal album. Afterward, In Flames got to tour with bands such as Samael and Kreator.

Bolt Thrower - The IV Crusade (1992)

The IVth Crusade is the fourth studio album by the legendary British death metal band Bolt Thrower, released in 1992 via Earache Records.

Key Features

• Sound: On this album, the band significantly slowed down their tempo compared to their previous work, War Master, leaning into a heavier style influenced by Death-Doom and bands like Candlemass and Pentagram.
• Theme and Artwork: The title refers to the Fourth Crusade and the capture of Constantinople. The cover features the 1840 painting by Eugène Delacroix titled "The Entry of the Crusaders into Constantinople".

The Absence - Riders Of The Plague (2007)

 

 The Absence is an American metal band from Tampa, Florida. Their style has been described as aggressive thrash metal fused with melodic death metal in the manner of the Gothenburg sound of Scandinavian metal. They were previously signed to Metal Blade Records and are now signed to M-Theory Audio.

The band released a self-titled EP in 2004 and followed up with their debut album, From Your Grave, in 2005. The band's second album, Riders of the Plague, was released in 2007. The album was praised in a review for finding an "interesting balance" between the genres death metal and thrash metal. In 2007, bassist Michael Leon joined the band. Drummer Jeramie Kling left the band that same year and was temporarily replaced by Chris Pistillo from the Tampa death metal scene. The band recruited Justin Reynolds as their new drummer in early 2008.

The Absence stated in late 2008 that they would be entering the studio to record a new album in March 2009. Due to time constraints and touring duties, the band said they would enter the studio on September 10 since the original date "wasn't the right time." The band delayed the recording of the album again and later entered Mana Recording Studios on November 2, 2009, to record Enemy Unbound. Their third studio album, Enemy Unbound was released on September 14, 2010, and reached No. 55 on the Billboard Heatseekers chart. Jeramie Kling rejoined the band during summer 2010. On September 27, 2010, The Absence released their music video of "Enemy Unbound" from their eponymous album Enemy Unbound. As of January 1, 2013, guitarist Peter Joseph parted ways with The Absence. On January 22, 2013, it was announced that Per Nilsson of Scar Symmetry had joined the band.
