Demonic Rage - Demo II [Demo] (2006)

Demonic Rage nace el año 2000 en la ciudad de Puerto Montt (Chile) bajo el nombre de Nailed Christ. Después de un par de shows en vivo se vienen cambios en el line up y cambio de nombre al actual. Ya bajo el nombre de Demonic Rage se graba algunos rehearsals y promos que son enviados a algunos maníacos del Ug recibiendo buena respuesta. El estilo de la banda por supuesto es un death metal influenciado por entes oscuros como Incantation, Dominus Xul, Profanatica, Autopsy, Immolation, Disembowelment... En 2003 la banda entra a estudio por primera vez y graban el tema promocional Desecrating the False Divinity que fue minimamente esparcido en un tape junto al "Promo live 2001". Le siguieron muchas presentaciones en vivo y en 2004 graban "Demo reh 2004" editando algunas copias en cdr y tape. En 2004 tambien graban "Cadaver Christ' s Desecration" bajo Pagan South Productions de Valdivia. Ya entrado el 2005 entran nuevamente a estudio y registran el tape simplemete titulado como "Demo 2". Este demo fue re editado por el sello Boliviano Raw Black Kult como el split tape Demonic Rage /Excoriate "Death Communion".
En 2007 la banda entra a grabar un nuevo demo titulado "The Anguish doomaelstrom" que fue editado como split cd junto a Slaughtbath. 

En 2010 Demonic Rage graba un nuevo demo de 2 temas llamado "Sulphuric Congregation Towards the Holocaust of all Sacred and Holy" editado en tape por el sello underground For the devil productions de Curicó.  A mediados del mismo año la banda entra a Dm6 studios y comienzan las grabaciones del album debut. Ya en 2011 se lanzan dos split: Demonic Rage/Father Befouled 7" Ep (Dark descent records y Demonic Rage/Anticristo split cd bajo Sangrienta Alianza Prod.
El mismo año es editado "The Occult Formulas to Desecrate Souls" tape por Heretic Death Call Prod.
En 2013 por fin ve la luz del underground el album debut "Venomous wine from putrid bodies" que fue editado en varias versiones: cassette por Eldritch Lunar Miasma tape pro que incluía patch con el logo (editado en 2 tirajes con distinto artwork y diferentes mezclas en el sonido. Cassette por Black kaos Descent de Argentina con diferente artwork y bonus tracks. Cd por Mushantufe productions de Temuco en 1000 copias. Vinyl 12" por el sello alemán Iron bonehead.

En 2015 la banda entra en alianza con la banda americana Fetid Zombie y graban un split cd bajo Canometal records y edición en tape por Eldritch Lunar Miasma/Morbid Visions (UK/USA).
Los mismos tres temas del split sin editados en un mcd bajo el sello Black kaos descent. Después de muchos cambios de line up a través de los años la banda comienza a crear nuevas canciones que esperan grabar pronto en la misma línea de brutal y oscuro Death metal .

Totten Korps ‎- Tharnheim: Athi-Land-Nhi; Ciclopean Crypts Of Citadels (2000)

 

Totten Korps, founded in 1989 in Santiago, Chile, is one of the extreme metal pioneer bands in Chile, as well as being an influential band for future generations of Chilean Death Metal. The band was born amidst the chaos arising from the military dictatorship ruling the country at the time, scenario that fueled the goal of recording their first demo “The King of Hell Reclaims his Throne” (1990) and subsequently their second demo “For the Infernal Resurrection” (1991). Through these two recordings, an obscure and morbid EP was born: “Our Almighty Lords” (1992). In 1993, the band signed their first record deal with Hellion Rec from Brazil, thus managing to cross the Chilean borders to disseminate their somber Death Metal throughout the globe.

In 2000, Totten Korps signed with Spanish label Repulse Records, which led to the release of the band’s first LP: “Tharnheim: -Ati-Land-Nhi; Ciclopean Crypts of Citadels”, an album marked by an occultist/transcendental philosophical structure that took the band to be released in Europe, North America and Asia.

Currently, Totten Korps holds a legendary status within the South American underground Death Metal scene. In October 2014, the band completed their second LP “Supreme Commanders of Darkness”, a dark, brutal and technical album, which also manages to preserve the old school roots.

Torturer - The Flames Of Purification (2003)

Melding together numerous genres and adding a discipline of their own fury, Torturer make melodic speed metal not dissimilar to a more technical and articulate Metallica with a vocal track that matches the treble peak of shriek which Swedish death/black metal bands currently use. Their essential approach is to cluster riffs and knead them together over iterations, and the diversity and structural intent stamp the output which while rolling across the spectrum returns to its fundamental parts.

Heavy metal riffs with a muffled strum technique covering either buckling power chord staccato blasts or electric lances of lead guitar playing, played to the driving constant or double-hit beats of a speed metal band, motivate each song into flywheel balance until it explodes in melodic choruses and raging bridges to closure. Mid-tempo or alertly rapid but not blurred, song narrative charges along lines of its basic themes which introduced in sequence, are mirrored later by similar shapes or tonal ideas. Hints of Iron Maiden, Slayer and something like D.B.C. flavor a range of stylistic technique covering three generations of metal.

While not as extreme as its vocals, this release borrows heavily from death metal linguistics, most notably Swedish melodic death metal and the thunderous simplicity from the American south. Its soloing is articulate while indulgent, balancing a tendency toward compressing a good deal of complexity into a short period of time and the abrupt transitions employed thrash style in direct adaptivity after interruption. Its essential resource is its energy and the creative fingering that configures these myriad riffs from the same basic elements.

Listenable as wavelike momentum and somewhat confusing for employing a polyglot of similar metal styles, this release shows a band of great promise fashioning from the cast off elements of "world metal" something which will evolve into its own voice over time. The commanding yet sparing use of melody and quirky test flight tempo changes presents a space to introduce variation and at its extension, centrality. Capitalizing on this, these Chilean adventurers control attention long enough to present new worlds to explore, and dive in.
