Judas Iscariot - Distant In Solitary Night (1999) Reissue [2005]

Judas Iscariot was created by Akhenaten back in 1992 as a solo band. He released his first demo in 1993. In 1995 the debut album "The Cold Earth Slept Below" was released on Moribund Records.

He released the 7" EP "Arise, My Lord" in 1996. He also participated in two other bands, Sarcophagus and Seeds of Hate. "Thy Dying Light" was recorded and was to be released at Head Not Found but the parent company Voices of Wonder refused to release due to the extremity of Judas Iscariot. It was later released by Moribund Records Cult.

Akhenaten moved from America to Germany and recorded "Of Great Eternity" which was released in 1997. The following two years he managed to release "Distant in Solitary Night" which was recorded back in 1996. He also signed a contract with the American label Red Stream. They had heard his new work "Heaven in Flames" and agreed to release it. In 2000 he released the MCD "Dethroned, Conquered and Forgotten".

Same year, a live album "Under the Black Sun" was released and a split 7" EP with Krieg, "To the Coming Age of Intolerance" in 2001.

In 2002, "To Embrace the Corpses Bleeding" and the MCD "Moonlight Butchery" were released, also the EPs "March of the Apocalypse" and "Midnight Frost". Shortly after, Akhenaten announced that he decided to end the band.

Judas Iscariot - Thy Dying Light (1996) Enhanced [2000]

Judas Iscariot was created in 1992 in DeKalb (Illinois), originally called Heidegger, formed as a “one-man-band” project by Andrew Jay Harris, an American sociologist and philosopher, using the pseudonym “Akhenaten”. However, with the release of "Heaven in Flames" (1999), Duane Timlin (Cryptic Winter) joined him as a session drummer. From 1999 to 2000, Akhenaten performed just two live concerts with a lineup featuring members of Nargaroth, Krieg, Absu, and Maniac Butcher. The band's last show took place at the Under the Black Sun festival in Germany in July 2000. This show was captured on vinyl. The album was limited to a mere 500 copies, which included the live cuts and an 11-minute studio track ("Portions Of Eternity Too Great For The Eyes Of Man"), leading to inflated prices over the Internet, much to Akhenaten's chagrin. At this last show, "The Black Clouds Roll Under the Parapet of the Sky" was dedicated to "the destruction of the capitalist scum who tried to destroy black metal." All of the band's releases were given to the labels who originally released them, and Akhenaten took no money, as he owned his own recording equipment, instead asking that the money be put back into the underground.

The subjects that commonly touched were directed from the point of view of nihilistic philosophy. After returning from Germany, Akhenaten announced that he had ended Judas Iscariot on August 25, 2002. This date coincided with the 102nd anniversary of the death of the German philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche, whose work was a major influence on the ideological foundations of the band. "Midnight Frost (To Rest With Eternity)" EP was the band's last official release, in 2003.

Akhenaten has been a part of many side projects, including Weltmacht and Sarcophagus.

In 2018, Ascension Monuments Media began selling pre-orders for numerous re-releases from Judas Iscariot's discography, falsely claiming they were authorized by the band. Akhenaten has described these records as "disgraceful unauthorized bootlegs."

Judas Iscariot - Dethroned, Conquered and Forgotten [EP] (2000)

Judas Iscariot was an American black metal band. It began in 1992 as the solo-project of Andrew Harris, who performed under the pseudonym Akhenaten (after the Egyptian Pharaoh of the same name).
With the release of Heaven in Flames (1999), Duane Timlin (aka Cryptic Winter) joined the band as a session drummer. During 1999 and 2000, Akhenaten twice performed live with a line-up featuring members from Nargaroth, Krieg, Absu and Maniac Butcher.
Akhenaten stated that his music was intended to give others strength to live in a world compromised by materialism and irrational religious ideology.
Some of the lyrics on early Judas Iscariot albums are borrowed from the works of English poet and Christian mystic William Blake, as well as from English poet Percy Bysshe Shelly, fundamental for understanding the connection between Dark Romanticism, the esoteric and their connection to heavy metal lyrics.

Akhenaten repeatedly denied holding any extreme right-wing or racist views. In an interview he stated "Judas Iscariot is no Nazi band. I myself am no Nazi either [...] If other bands think they have to include politics into their music, it's their business, but this has nothing to do with my band."

After relocating to Germany, Akhenaten announced the demise of Judas Iscariot on August 25, 2002.
