Drowning The Light - Dead Soul Requiem [EP] (2013)

In the year 2003, Azgorh created Drowning the Light (after his previous band Baal Gadrial (1999-2005) became dormant and he was only doing vocal duties in Pestilential Shadows) as an all encompassing entity of hatred and melancholy, which unleashed its first rituals, 4 tapes, Shrouded in misery and mystery, extremely limited and given out only to close allies.

2004 saw the birth of the first full length album "Drowned", filled with keys and epic sorrow this also was only given out to a select few.

On the eve of 05/06/06 a small gathering/ritual was held in the forest ontop of what is known as the "occult mountain", when midnight struck to break in 06/06/06 Drowning the Light played their first show, with session members Tortured Soul on Drums and Nightwolf on Guitar. Then on the same date at 4am in dedication to HIM a 7" was written and recorded, before the Morning Star rose, before Lucifer lit that morn. Late 2006 3 of the 4 demos and the full length "drowned" were released on a double cd entitled "The Fallen Years". During 2006 3 other albums were completed "A world Long Dead" & "To the end of Time" (with guest vocals from Gamol & Scorpios), both to be released in 2007 and "the masters empire" which is to be a split CD with Sabnack in Asgard Musik's 9cd 9year box set limited to 99 due out in early 07. In December 2006 Drowning the Light played its second Ritual on the island of Tasmania.

Early 2007 new material has been written and recorded "Of Celtic Blood and Satanic Pride". Drowning the Light played the "Recrucify the Bastard" festival on easter weekend 2007, The use of dead ravens and other assorted rotting beasts were scattered throughout the ritual chamber and the stench of death overwelmed alot of people who were forced to leave due to it. Drowning the Light has started more sonic rituals as the winter months of this southern land are upon us (2007), these include a new full length (The Serpents Reign) and split material with Empire of Tharaphita and Arkha Sva as well as a future split with dark ambient band Old Oak. A continuation of Obscure dark ambient material is recorded under the title "Obscure Worship" in late 2007 and thus the obscure worship chronicles will be continued in 2008. 2007 ends with Drowning the Light playing the "Nocturnal Occult Ritual", utter chaos and disorder and Tortured Souls first live appearance doing guest vocals for a song (the show being cut short after it due to Tortured Souls psychotic actions on stage).

The rotten first months of 2008 recording for a split with the obscure entity known as Forbidden Citadel of Spirits (aus) has been completed, as well as progress on a new mini album "The Weeping Moon" and the third part of the Obscure Worship Chronicles "Poisoned Summer". A melancholic Autumn brings the completion of the new MLP filled with Vampyric and Lycanthropic Sadness, also the completion of the split material with cult brazillian horde EVIL (5 tracks from Drowning the Lights side). The Bitter Winter Months of this southern land brought forth the composition and recording of this years first full length album "The Blood of the Ancients"; majestic and epic yet melancholic and raw, the storm that rages on.

2009 now upon us and Drowning the Light once again will come from out of the shadows to the ritual altar, 2 live ritual on march 6-7 in Finland as part of the Bloodcult tour, this will be Drowning the Lights first shows abroad… and not the Last. Recording of new material for various unannounced splits has begun which soon will be revealed. Returning from the land of the dead sun in march 09, whilst there recording of a mini album with finnish comrades Shatraug, M.Kadotus & Stormheit took place in the last days of their winter. Splits with Sargeist (fin), Empire of Tharaphita (fin), Lone Suffer (jap) & Eternum (aust), will be unleashed later this year, all material recorded in 2008 and planned for some time, they will finally be thrust from the darkness into the blind masses. April has seen the completion of an album improvised out of pure madness, the recording started in the spring of 2007 and has only just been completed in the autumn of 2009, this recording is Azgorh & Poltergeist only and is entitled "A Pact with Madness", it's concept based on a leper plotting against the society he was cast from and his decent into insanity. This will only ever be released on vinyl. The writing of a new full length began in Jan 2009 and has continued to be written and thus should be ready to record by april, when the bastard nazerene was slain. This full length not only composed by Azgorh but also S, Blackheart and Wraith (nazxul, nox inferi).. This scorched land will once again be shrouded in darkness and misery.. And this Art will NEVER die. The new album "An Alignment of Dead Stars" has now been completed through the Autumn chill of April and shall be released through Avantgarde Music. 2009 draws to an end and a new MCD/MLP has been recorded in the spring months with Blackheart, Wraith and Azgorh at the helm, "The Fading Rays of the Sun" is cold, majestic and melancholic black metal from the darkest depths of this southern landscape.

2010 bleeds in with the unleashing of the occult offering between DTL and Acherontas upon the blind masses, the early summer months of 2010 brought forth the sonic ritual creations for various splits in the coming seasons, as well as the composition of the next dark opus brooding in the shadows. Blood of the weak shall be spilt before this year is through. The Rise of the Black Serpent demo sounds the call for those of the shadow side to embrace the darkness and their destiny. Pacts with other occult and dark hordes have been made and recorded which soon shall be revealed as well as the 11th full length opus which is now close to completion, "Catacombs of Blood". The clouds swell as the winter months draw in.. "Catacombs of Blood" is unleashed upon the hordes like a vile plague infecting all it passes. Murderous impulses flood the mind and spheres of death are embraced as the nocturnal beast in man is unleashed!! 2010 has been cursed with this tome.

A hellish start to 2011 with Drowning the Light's first live rituals in the south since 2007. Armageddon was at hand, 44 degree heat did not stop this ritual of destruction, death and chaos. These 2 rituals tore the heart from the white light religions and fed them to the dogs!! As the rivers run red through the melancholic autumn and the chill starts to set in this southern dominion a new abomination brews… A small ember shall soon ignite a blaze in the southern sky..
The end of the year saw dark visions of the abyss and the impending apocalypse with the full length album "Oceans of Eternity".

Autopsy - Mental Funeral (1991) [Reissue] (2015)

The origin of Autopsy goes back to August of 1987 in Antioch, California, by the guitarist Eric Cutler and drummer Chris Reifert, who had recently left the band Death. The two wasted no time in forming a deadly band with a clear vision of creating the heaviest, most brutal music possible. Brief tryouts for a vocalist were attempted but ultimately proved to be futile. In the interest of moving things along, Reifert took on the job of vocalist along with drumming, while Cutler would lend his guttural vocals to the song "Mauled to Death", one of Autopsy's first creations. Inspired by all things horrific, the band even found its name in the true annals of horror while reading a newspaper article about the manager of the band Bloodbath (Danny Coralles' band at the time) being beaten to death with a lead pipe. The word Autopsy stood out and the moniker was chosen on the spot. Another outcast from the area, bassist Eric Eigard was brought into the fold and after a few rehearsals the trio entered ATR studios to record the 1987 demo which showed exactly what they had in mind for their mission.

The band promptly sent the demo tape to anyone who would listen to it and soon the metal magazines were approaching Autopsy instead of the other way around. This was a fertile time for death metal and Autopsy showed no hesitation in staking their claim in this brutal new world. Soon after the release of the debut demo, Eric Eigard left the band and was replaced by Ken Sorvari on bass. Several local shows were played with Sadus and Hexx, with one of these being attended by future guitarist Danny Coralles who was in the process of being talked into leaving Bloodbath, his band at the time, to join Autopsy by mutual friend Don Chandler. Coralles showed up at an arranged rehearsal/audition and quickly showed he was up to the task by displaying his knowledge of the material from the first demo and learning the songs for the upcoming second demo to be titled "Critical Madness". The true test came with his second time playing with Autopsy which was the recording of the demo in June of 1988. The recording took place at ATR again, and the rest was history. Copies of both demos were now circulating throughout the underground and soon enough ended up in the hands of Peaceville Records owner Paul "Hammy" Halmshaw due to a recommendation from none other than Jeff Walker of the legendary Carcass.

A deal with Peaceville was struck up straight away and Autopsy was set to enter Starlight Sound in January of 1989 to record their debut album "Severed Survival". The one problem that needed to be solved was the departure of Ken Sorvari, leaving the band without a bass player. Friend and bass annihilator from Sadus, Steve DiGiorgio was asked to step in and fill the void which he did with devastating results. The album was unleashed later in the year and let the world know that Autopsy was a brutal force to be reckoned with. Death metal would never be the same again. Shortly after "Severed Survival" was released, Ken Sorvari rejoined the band and a European tour was booked for early 1990 with Pestilence, Bolt Thrower and Morgoth. This tour got the message across more strongly than ever and a rabid following soon developed, elevating Autopsy's name to levels previously unachieved before that point. Interestingly enough, Peaceville began to see troubles regarding the "Severed "Survival" album cover which depicted a person being ripped apart by meat hooks. At that time, sensitivity to images of that sort was high and the decision was made to come up with alternate artwork so distributors could handle this monster of an album. The decision payed off and another classic album cover was created as a result. "Severed Survival" was re- launched in 1990 and the path to brutality was cut even deeper than before. As would be the pattern for Autopsy, bass player problems plagued the band again as Ken Sorvari was asked to leave following the European tour. He was replaced by Steve Cutler, Eric's brother and another European tour was booked, this time with label -mates Paradise Lost.

Autopsy entered Different Fur studios in San Francisco that same year to record the three song "Retribution for the Dead" e.p. In November of 1990, Different Fur was visited again for the recording of the legendary Mental Funeral album. Both "Retribution for the Dead" and "Mental Funeral" were released in 1991. Around this time, Steve Cutler left the band and again Autopsy had to figure out how to fill the gap. A friend of the band, Josh Barohn had previously left Suffocation and offered to make the trip from New York to California to try out for the band. He did indeed make the journey, by bus, with one bag and his bass across his back. While Josh adjusted to the Autopsy experience, Steve DiGiorgio stepped in once more to join forces and play on the "Fiend for Blood" e.p. in September of 1991 at Starlight Sound, to add a third release to Autopsy's catalog for that same year. In June of 1992, Autopsy went back to Starlight to record "Acts of the Unspeakable". With inner artwork so graphic for the time, Peaceville was actually raided by the authorities fueled by accounts of obscenity. Autopsy was exploring new ways to make even the most jaded metal fans cringe while new levels of bizarre songwriting were achieved, to make an overall disturbing and unsettling album. Again, the bass player curse reared its head when Josh Barohn left the picture. This would not, however, be the undoing of the band. A U.S. tour was booked during the summer of 1993 with Freeway Migliore coming along as a session bass player. Freeway, being a friend and the drummer for Immortal Fate also played guitar, so the choice to have him make the switch to bass seemed logical and worked out quite well. The tour however did not go well and was to be the undoing of Autopsy. The tour was poorly planned, and with little or no promotion saw Autopsy driving long distances for low attendances over a long period of time. Tensions within the band increased as a result and a rift had formed midway through the tour.

Desaster - Tyrants Of The Netherworld (2000) [CASS] (2005)

The history of Desaster reaches back as far as 1988 when two young metal maniacs from Koblenz, Germany, decided to follow the path once paved by bands such as HELLHAMMER or DESTRUCTION. After initial songwriting sessions, the band played their first and now legendary live concert in 89, which also marked the official birth of Desaster. Having overcome several line-up problems between 1990 and 1992, original member/guitarist Infernal soldiered on with vocalist Okkulto and bass player Odin.

Following up on the two demos "The Fog of Avalon" (1993) and "Lost in the Ages" (1994), Merciless Records released the group's first vinyl in 1995, a split 7" single together with country mates UNGOD.

In 1996, Desaster's debut album "A touch of medieval darkness" came out, earning much respect in underground circles worldwide, followed by their third release, the mini album "Stormbringer" (1997).

"Hellfire's Dominion", Desaster's second full-length album was released in September 98. It contained a standout track in the shape of speed metal hymn "Metalized Blood", featuring guest vocals from PENTACLE's Wannes, German speed veterans VIOLENT FORCE's Lemmie and Toto, frontman of cult act LIVING DEATH. The band's third album "Tyrants of the Netherworld" hit the shelves in late 2000. After several festival appearances in the summer of 2001 (Fuck the Commerce, Wacken, etc.) singer Okkulto left and was replaced shortly after by Sataniac from German black thrashers DIVINE GENOCIDE. The 7" single "Souls of Infernity", released in October 2001, featured former shouter Okkulto's final performance.

Having issued their fourth album "Divine Blasphemies" (2002), a show in Sao Paulo/Brazil marked a special highlight and resulted in a live release entitled "Brasilian Blitzkrieg Blasphemies" via Mutilation Records (Brazil).

After joining Metal Blade Records, the new label put out their fifth album "Angelwhore", which was also released on vinyl via Iron Pegasus Records. In May 2007 the group entered Harrow's Studio (Asphyx, Pentacle, Occult, Soulburn...) in the Netherlands to record their sixth full-length "666 - Satan's Soldiers Syndicate". In 2007 and 2008, the band played many gigs, their outstanding third trip to South America and shows at bigger European festivals amongst them.

In 2009, Desaster celebrated their 20th anniversary with a box set. The birthday party on a boat cruising along the river Rhine turned out to be a huge success.

Desaster's seventh album "The Arts of Destruction" came out in February 2012. Recorded at ToxoMusic Studios, mixed and mastered at Temple of Disharmony, this slab of dark heavy metal straight from hell celebrates just the unique, archaic sound this band has represented ever since. The record gained good to great reviews throughout.

2014: Desaster for 25 years! Of course, this had to be properly celebrated. "Live in Bamberg" came out via High Roller Records. The group recorded a complete show with many guests, which was released on LP, CD and DVD, the latter featuring an extensive history documentation with all former members, many friends and associates of the band, not to forget old recordings and much more.

With their eighth studio album "The Oath of an Iron Ritual" in 2016, the musicians stay true to the uncompromising manners they have always represented. This time around they recorded together with Patrick W. Engel in their own rehearsal space, which took just a couple of days in October but did not hurt the sound one bit - on the contrary! A barrage of metal without compromises that will easily split skulls everywhere. This album, an array of Desaster's typical, riff-heavy neckbreakers, shows them more aggressive and murderous than ever. In 2018 the band decided to split up with drummer Tormentor, because his engagements in ASPHYX and SODOM left too little space for Desaster.

In 2019 the band's 30 anniversary was celebrated with a special 7" single called "Black Celebration" which contained two brand new tracks with new drummer Hont.

Destruction - Release From Agony (1987)

Release from Agony is the third studio album by German thrash metal band Destruction, released in 1988. The album is mostly noted for it's usage of complexity and technicality in the songs. It was the first Destruction album to feature four members. Some of the album's lyrics narrate themes that deal with political topics, such as government and corruption. Others deal with horror themes, like murder and nightmares.

Destruction formed in 1982. They are often credited as one of the Big 4 of the German thrash metal scene, the others being Kreator, Sodom and Tankard. In addition to helping pioneer black metal by containing several elements of what was to become the genre, Destruction was part of the second wave of thrash metal in the late 1980s, along with American bands Testament, Sacred Reich, Death Angel and Dark Angel.

Silencer - Death - Pierce Me (2001) [Reissue] (2012)

Founded in Stockholm by the guitarist Leere in 1995, Silencer grew from being a strictly solo musical project into a black metal duo when the vocalist Nattramn was enlisted. At the end of 1998, Silencer released a one-track demo, Death - Pierce Me, with the session drummer Jonas Mattsson of Nominon, that attained them a deal with the German label Prophecy Productions in 1999. The recordings took place during July 2000 with Steve Wolz (Bethlehem, Angel, Imperia) on drums. The full-length, also entitled Death - Pierce Me, was released one year later in October 2001, by which time the group had already disbanded. A vinyl version was also released in a limited number of 200 copies.

According to rumours, Nattramn was institutionalised. In 2005 Leere (a.k.a. Casado) joined the Swedish black metal band Shining, whom he already had a close connection with from the past. By the end of the year, after some touring, Casado left Shining. In the years to come within the black metal underground, although defunct, Silencer gained somewhat of a cult status.

The band split up supposedly because Nattramn was institutionalised, but apparently he returned with an industrial/dark ambient project called Diagnose: Lebensgefahr.
