Death - Scream Bloody Gore (1987) [Reissue] (2007)

Scream Bloody Gore is the debut studio album by American death metal band Death, released on May 25, 1987, through Combat Records. It is considered by some to be "the first true death metal record". Chuck Schuldiner played bass and guitar, wrote all the songs on the album and provided all the vocals. John Hand is noted on the cover as playing rhythm guitar, though this was incorrect and Hand was only in the band for a short period and was not on the recording. This is also the only Death album to feature drummer Chris Reifert, who had joined for the Mutilation demo, and the only one of the band's albums to not be recorded at Morrisound Recording

On April 7th, Death hit Houston, TX. They played at the After Dark Rock Club with locals Dark Reign, and before they show they even did a signing at Rock N Roll It Records & Tapes.

Death - Symbolic (1995)

Originally founded in Orlando, Florida in 1983 as Mantas, changed their name to Death in late 1984.
Death was founded by guitarist and vocalist Chuck Schuldiner. Death is considered to be among the most influential bands in heavy metal and a pioneering force in the extreme metal subgenre of death metal. Their debut album, Scream Bloody Gore, has been widely regarded as the first death metal record (although there is some dispute to that claim as Possessed's debut album Seven Churches and Necrophagia's debut album Season of the Dead were released before).
Death had a revolving lineup, with Schuldiner being the sole consistent member. The group's style also progressed, from the raw sound on its first two albums to a more sophisticated one in its later stage.

Symbolic is the only album to feature Bobby Koelble and Kelly Conlon on guitar and bass, respectively, and the second and last album to feature drummer Gene Hoglan.

Death disbanded due to Chuck Schuldiner dying of a high-grade pontine glioma (a malignant type of brain cancer that invades the brainstem) on December 13th, 2001. The cause of death was that he took the drug vincristine to help combat the cancer and his condition worsened as he became ill with pneumonia. However, Chuck put Death on hold already in late 1998 after The Sounds of Perseverance tour in order to focus on his other project Control Denied.

Death - Leprosy (1988) [Remastered] (2014)

Leprosy is the second studio album by American death metal band Death, released on November 16 1988, by Combat Records. Bill Andrews:  Drums

2nd riff for "Choke on It" was originally used in a rare "Rigor Mortis" song, which was released as a demo in 1985.
US version comes in gatefold cover with lyrics and band photos on the inside.
Canadian version comes in non-gatefold cover.

Despite being both credited and pictured on this album, Chuck Schuldiner said that he handled the bass parts not Terry Butler, who only joined the band right after the recording sessions of Leprosy were completed. So, this means that Spiritual Healing was Butler's only proper recording with Death.

Death - Rehearsals / Live '85-'88

One of the first death metal bands, originally founded in 1983 as Mantas, changed their name to Death in late 1984.

Throughout their career, Death went through constant line-up changes; however, the long enduring name was and still is regarded as a moniker of mastermind Chuck Schuldiner, who was the only member to appear on all recordings, except for one demo, which Kam Lee released, under the name Death, after Chuck's move to San Francisco in 1985. The demo is better considered Massacre material.
Death had some dramatic changes in their sound; in the beginning, before even releasing a demo and under the name Mantas, the band wanted to play Venom/Celtic Frost influenced metal, but upon hearing bands like Possessed, Mantas wanted to play and expand death metal. Thus, they decided to change their name to Death to sum up what their music and lyrics were about. So Death started off as death metal with gore related lyrics, as heard on Scream Bloody Gore. Starting with Human, the band underwent a noticeable transformation, with lyrics not relating to gore but more to the human mind; starting Individual Thought Patterns, the band had brought in progressive elements: thus the last studio album, The Sound of Perseverance, has a sound significantly different from that of the traditional death metal the band originally helped to define.

A tribute album is in the works for Death and Chuck courtesy of ex-guitarist James Murphy and will have appearances by members of: Obituary, Six Feet Under, Iced Earth, Shadows Fall, Testament among many other big names in metal.
Beginning in 2012, former members of the band and others have toured as cover/tribute band under the names Death to All, Death DTA, and Death DTA Tours. These acts have the support of the Schuldiner family's Perseverance Holdings Ltd., which manages Chuck's legacy.
