Toxic Holocaust - Live-Only Deaf Is Real (2007)

Prior to starting Toxic Holocaust, Joel Grind has only played in two other bands full-time. One was Grave Mistake, a horrorcore/death punk band from Maryland and the other was The Rapists, a hardcore punk band heavily influenced by Discharge and GBH.

Joel Grind founded Toxic Holocaust in 1999 in the city of Portland. Writing and recording all of the group's music himself.

He issued a pair of demos (1999's Radiation Sickness and 2002's Critical Mass) before unleashing the project's first full-length effort, Evil Never Dies, in 2003.

Prior to becoming a one man solo band, there was also previously two other unknown members who had appeared on the Radiation Sickness demo tape/CD-R. The two members were kicked out of the band shortly after and Toxic Holocaust had gone on hiatus.

The group's burgeoning popularity in the metal underground prompted Grind to take the enterprise out of the studio and onto the stage, so he hired a backing band and hit the road.

Joel resurrected the band in 2001 and started recording lots of new material alone on his own in his bedroom, a method that took place on the recording of every studio release prior to An Overdose of Death...

Extensive touring followed, along with a recording contract with America's premier death metal label, Relapse Records. In addition to releasing the third Toxic Holocaust album.

For the first release on Relapse Records, session drummer Donny Paycheck was utilized. After the recording Phil Zeller and Al Chambers of the Canadian band Rammer joined as permanent members.

Joel did manage to enlist renowned heavy metal artist Ed Repka (Megadeth, Death, etc.) to design the Hell on Earth (2005) cover.

Phil Zeller and Al Chambers of the Canadian band Rammer joined as permanent members. Chambers had previously played drums for TH on a Canadian tour in 2006.

Toxic Holocaust - Gravelord [7''EP] (2009)

Toxic Holocaust mutated into existence in 1999, when Joel Grind merged his love for classic punk and metal into his ideal band. Like his influences - Bathory, Venom, English Dogs, Possessed, Broken Bones...
Toxic Holocaust featured blazing riffs, gravel-throated vocals, and a deadly fixation on the evil in man and a post-apocalyptic world. Grind wrapped all of these elements up with a DIY attitude.

Toxic Holocaust has primarily been a one-man band, with Joel Grind performing all instruments and hiring various rotating live bands to back him on tour when he performs guitar and vocals. For the first release on Relapse Records, session drummer Donny Paycheck was utilized. After the recording Phil Zeller and Al Chambers of the Canadian band Rammer joined as permanent members. Chambers had previously played drums for TH on a Canadian tour in 2006.

Also prior to becoming a one man solo band, there was also previously two other unknown members who had appeared on the Radiation Sickness demo tape/CD-R. The two members were kicked out of the band shortly after and Toxic Holocaust had gone on hiatus.

Joel resurrected the band in 2001 and started recording lots of new material alone on his own in his bedroom, a method that took place on the recording of every studio release prior to An Overdose of Death...
