Aborted - The Haematobic EP [EP 2004]

Aborted is a Belgian death metal band from Beveren, formed in 1995 in Waregem. The group consists of vocalist, founder, and only constant member since the band's inception, Sven de Caluwé, guitarists Danny Tunker and Mendel Bij De Leij, bassist Stefano Franceschini , and drummer Ken Bedene. Although the band originally had an entire lineup of members living in Belgium, Aborted's current lineup now features members from Belgium, The Netherlands and the United States.

According to de Caluwé, the name of the band was named Aborted in hopes that the band's CDs could be found on the racks in music stores as the very first selections in the "A" section. Short years after forming, the band released a demotape titled The Necrotorous Chronicles. Following early recordings and some live shows, the band were eventually signed to Uxicon Records. Since then the band has released three splits (on Soulreaper Records, Bones Brigade, and Listenable Records, respectively), eight full-length albums, two EPs, and a DVD. Aborted are currently signed to Century Media Records. According to Allmusic, Aborted "had grown into the role of key contributors to the death-grind genres".

Sodom • M-16 (2001)

Sodom is a German thrash metal band formed in 1981. Original line-up were Tom Angelripper, Chris Witchhunter and Aggressor. Receiving inspiration by bands such as Motörhead and Venom, they released two demos which led to a record deal with Steamhammer. Aggressor left the band shortly before releasing the In the Sign of Evil EP, and was replaced by Grave Violator, who did not last long himself. On the debut album Obsessed by Cruelty he was replaced by Destructor. However, after the release Destructor left the band to join Kreator.

Thereafter their break-through album Persecution Mania was released with yet another guitarist, Frank Blackfire. A live album Mortal Way of Live followed. The next album made Sodom famous; Agent Orange was released in 1989. Since then, Sodom is one of the three big names of German Thrash metal; the others are Kreator and Destruction. Again a new guitarist was to be found as Blackfire also left the band to join Kreator. The replacement was found in Michael Hoffman.

In this line-up the Better Off Dead album was released in 1990. During the South American tour however, Hoffman decided to stay in Brazil and therefore was forced to quit. His replacement was found in Andy Brings and a new album was recorded, titled Tapping the Vein, which was more death metal influenced than before. This proved to be the last album with the drummer Witchhunter who quit because of lack of interest in metal music. Atomic Steif found his way behind the drumkit.

This line-up now, recorded the next album, Get What You Deserve. Out were the death metal influence, in came the hardcore influences. At this time Angelripper also started a solo carreer doing metal impressions of drinking songs, German schlagers and even Xmassy Carols. Another live album was recorded of the tour in support of this album called Marooned - Live.

In the same vein as the previous album, Masquerade in Blood was released in 1995. Again another guitarist was to be found. The new axeman was Sthrahli, but he did not stay very long with the band either; he was fired due to drugs problems. Also Atomic Steif left and again Angelripper needed to search for new members. These were found in the person of Bernemann on guitars and Bobby Schottkowski on drums.

The new album 'Til Death Do Us Unite featured a controversial album cover, depicting the belly a pregnant woman and a beer gut of a man pressing a human skull together. Apparently this line-up has stabilised the band significantly as this still the current line-up. In 1999 Code Red was released and formed a return to the sound of the 1980s thrash metal. A limited edition featured a bonus CD containing a tribute to Sodom album called Homage to the Gods. In the same vein, M-16 was released displaying Sodoms interest in the Vietnam War. The title of course refers to the automatic rifle M16). A tour followed with the other two big German thrash metal bands Kreator and Destruction.

In 2003, a double live album was recorded in Bangkok, titled One Night in Bangkok. In 2006 Sodom released their Album "Sodom" and after the release the band played a lot of shows all over the world.

In 2007 comes "The final Sign of Evil". On this record the original Line up with Chris Witchhunter, Grave Violator and Tom Angelripper acting very old school. In Wacken the band played a really special Set at the Wacken Open Air with Old Members like Andy Brings, Atomic Steif, Grave Violator and a lot of more. This show will be a part of the long waited second Part of the Lords of Depravity DVD.
Drummer Legend Chris Witchhunter died at age of 42 in September 2008.

Sinister - Diabolical Summoning / Cross The Styx [compilation] (1997)

Starting in 1989, Sinister was a band arising in the middle of the Death-Metal hype. Mike, André, Aad en Ron were joining forces and the Sinister sound was born. After releasing a demo, which sold about 1500 copies, a promo tape followed. Sending out the promo to various labels resulted in signing up at Nuclear Blast Records, Germany 1991. Their debut CD 'Cross the Styx' saw the light in early 1992, and sold many copies worldwide. Many live shows all over Europe followed. Touring with bands like Suffocation, Cannibal Corpse and Deicide increased the number of people knowing Sinister.

In the years after that, Sinister succeeded in maintaining their popularity by releasing their second and third album 'Diabolical Summoning' (1993) and 'Hate' (1995) and doing many live shows all over Europe and a very successful 55 show-tour through all the USA.

At the end of this period, Death-Metal got less popular, lots of Death Metal fans switched over to Black Metal, Gothic and other atmospherically music. Sinister never thought about playing other music than their favorite; Death-Metal. Some years passed and the band released their mini CD 'Bastard Saints' (1996), and played a few live-shows. Several line-up changes followed, and led Sinister to write their most aggressive brutal and intense album so far 'Aggressive Measures' (1998).

These time their presence in Death Metal paid off. Death Metal is back, where for Sinister it never left. The response from fans and critics where good. Sinister sold lots of albums and played lots of good shows, of which a short Usa tour and good festivals like Wacken open air, Milwaukee Metal fest and Czech Dynamo blessed their way. Yet the cooperation between Sinister and vocalist Eric didn't work out very well, which lead to Eric's departure in August 1999. Sinister was searching for a new singer. After some serious tryouts with different singers, Rachel came out best and the band started concentrating on the next record. 'Creative Killings' was released at Hammerheart Records, September 2001. Shortly, after the release guitarist Bart decided to quit the band. A replacement was found in Pascal. The album was promoted with shows in Russia, Belarus and a 26 show tour across the rest of Europe.

In 2002 Sinister decided to join forces again with Nuclear Blast records. The result is the release of their album 'Savage or Grace'.
The album was massively promoted through shows in Mexico, Columbia and a two week tour with Cannibal Corpse across Europe.

After a short split Sinister reformed in March/April 2005 due to letters from the fans around the world. A slight position change though. Former bassist Alex Paul moved to guitar, drummer Aad moved to vocals and newcomer Paul on drums. After the recordings of ‘Afterburner’, several promotional gigs, and after launching there DVD ‘Prophecies Denied’, which was taken in Poland, Paul left the band in late 2007 to pursue other interests.

A new record deal was signed with Massacre Records for an album to be recorded in May 2008 titled "The Silent Howling" with Edwin van den Eeden on drums. The ‘Legacy of Ashes’ album, recorded in 2010, would be the last with Edwin and Alex. After some shows in South-Africa and Russia the band parted ways because of different opinions in the band.

Aad didn’t hesitate and immediately he called his mates from project band Absurd Universe; Toep, Bastiaan, Mathijs and Dennis. Bastiaan, Aad and Toep knew each other already from the band Supreme pain. With this band they recorded ‘Nemesis Enforcer’. Toep and Dennis knew each-other also from their cooperation in former bands, like Putrefied. Bastiaan and Mathijs are brothers … So, putting this band together again with these guys, was just as logical as it could probably be.

In 2011 they started with recordings of ‘The Carnage Ending’ in Soundlodge with Jorg Uken. The band had to prove itself more than ever, after a serious lineup change. But the reactions were amazingly good and positive. With this record the band was back on track. Fans were even referring to Cross the Styx and the beginning of Sinister. Also with bookings agency D19, Sinister was able to play big shows and festivals like; 70.000 tons of metal cruise, Hell fest, Extreme Hate Festival Brazil and Eindhoven Metal Meeting.

After touring the Balkans and many festival shows in Italy and Germany, Sinister did not rest but started writing songs for the monster album ‘The Post-Apocalyptic Servant’, a CD which can be considered as the fastest and hardest work ever from Sinister. In 2014 recordings in Soundlodge were completed and Sinister started to promote this CD with a tour in Australia and many club shows in Europe.

After launching the 7 ”EP ‘The Unborn Dead’, containing two cover songs of Novembers Doom and Grotesque in 2014, Sinister recorded a complete cover CD to celebrate the existence of the band for 25 years, not counting the breakup for two years. This CD was entitled ‘Dark Memorials’ and came out in 2015 and got great responses!

Heading for a new CD in 2017, Mathijs was forced to stop the band due to personal conditions and not much later the same applies for Bastiaan. Luckily Alesa (Aad’s wife) was able to help the band with their mini tour in Brazil and some other great festivals in 2016 as Summer Dying Loud in Poland, gigs in Portugal and Spain, and so on.

With Ricardo Falcon on guitar Sinister was on full strength again, for the live and shows and to work on the new songs for ‘Syncretism’, as Bastiaan stayed on the bands side to take responsibility for the 2/3 of the guitar parts on ‘Syncretism’. In November 2016 recordings were done at Soundlodge with

In 2017 Sinister played at some great festivals as Netherlands Death Fest, In Flammen, Steelfest, Rockstad, Metal Days, Obscene Extreme and many others! Meanwhile Ghislain van der Stel was recruited on bass-guitar to join the squad!! Touring South America with Pestilence, again the 70000 Tons of Metal and Maryland Deathfest were just few highlights that followed.

Unfortunately Sinister and Ricardo parted ways in 2018. Both parties had different opinions and therefor it was better to split up. It was decided with full respect of each other. The good part is that Sinister really quick came in contact with Michal Grall. This great guy just played his first gig at Otero Brutal Fest after just a few weeks of study and two rehearsals! Killer!! Heading for some great summer festivals Sinister is already busy writing new stuff for their new album to be released in 2019. Meanwhile a 7”split EP with Profanity will see daylight in 2018.

Black Empire - Into the Jails of Past (2005)

In the year of 1997 and under the terrible winds of holocaust was created in the Estado de México a unpure band by four perverse demons under the name of Black Empire.
To the end of 1997, the horde recorded a promo reh entitled simply Promo 97. Because the poor sound, this promo was not well distributed, but metalheads that heard this recording were captured by the cruel sound created by these demons.
In 1998, the horde entered to a semi professional studio to record the first official and self financiated demotape entitled A Real Man...A Black Heart. This work was well accepted between the media underground and some hundreds of copies were sold, spreading the name of the horde as a serious band into the ways of Black Metal.
In the 2000 Black Empire recorded the best stuff to the date, the MCD The Black Magic Domain. In this release, the odes become more evil and destructive and the demons demonstrated a superior skill playing their instruments. The cassette version was edited under the mexican underground label American Line Productions and the format CD was self released by Black Empire. The final result was excellent and the response of the media underground was amazing!!
2004 was a special year for the band, because in november of this year the horde entered to the M.A.T. studios to record their CD debut, that was magistrally captured and masterized by Miguel Ángeles Tavera (Pulverized, Sabachtany, Foeticide, etc.). The final result was simply amazing, finally Black Empire found the right sound for their sonic holocaust: powerful, cruel and devastating. No doubt, Into The Jails Of Past is the best work of Black Empire to the date.
The inspiration is taken of our misanthopic thoughts, an obsession with war, mystic power that embrace endless obscurity and all internal evil that dwells in our black hearts.
Black Empire had played a big number of shows to promove their unpure art, some of them with Rotting Christ, Ravager, Xiuhtecuhtli, Gomory, and others and in 2003 Black Empire played their first international show in El Salvador.
Black Empire edited their CD debut Into The Jails Of Past in may 2005 through the mexican labels Azermedoth Records and Witchcraft Records.

Baltak - Крал На Два Светој (2000)

Formed by Gorgoroth (an Australian-born son of Macedonian immigrants), whose ethnic roots lay in this country. His parents fled Yugoslavia decades ago.

Baltak arose from an Ancient Macedonian Kingdom, its history begining two thousand, three hundred and eleven years after the death of the King of Macedonia Alexander III the Great. Destined to lead the world to power, glory, majestic and imperial Alexandrian rule, Gorgoroth in his illimitable genius bought together a number of times a creation of such torchured battle agonies in the likes of Alexander the Bass Detonator & the Mechanic the Battery, (Former Sadistik Exekution). This brutal carnage lasted between 1995 till 1998. Their was 4 Live battle shows as well in Sydney. Little while later Alexander remained while the crazy Mechanic moved on and was replaced by Archelai who was latter featured on the Kral Na Dva Svetoj recorded in 1998 released in 2000. Then after that Alexander moved on & Archelai dissapeared and was never seen till this day. During the early period the follwoing assaults were unleashed: Macedonian Darkness & Evil-1994/95, Zagiantiot Grad-1998,Then also in the year of 1998 Gorgoroth set out to unknown lands, Lands he had never been to. Also to join forces with the Italian Black/Death horde Mortifier. With a new Extreme of Dark Evil power was formed Buio Omega in the year of 1998. Then was unleashed: Thy Dark Conquest 1999. As time went by Gorgoroth kept working hard to produce other material, line up after lineup until the year of 2002 he set out again to others lands & finally found the right mercinaries to full fill his mission. It was Germany he found the undifying brutal man Lord Of Aeveron for the Battering drums of War & carnage. Together in the City of Pirna in Dresden/Germany was created the new work of art. Still having the heavy touches but in a new direction was recorded the Makedonski Boj (Macedonian War) the 4th Baltak album in the mighty studio of Polygam. During the year of 2009/10 will be the re-issue of the Macedonian Darkness And Evil debut dual sided CD/DVD which will feature 3 bonus tracks and also a DVD with old rare live footage from 1994 to 1996.
