Judas Iscariot - Live at Wacky's Deli, San Antonio, Texas 04.12.1999

Judas Iscariot was created by Akhenaten back in 1992 as a solo band. He released his first demo in 1993. In 1995 the debut album "The Cold Earth Slept Below" was released on Moribund Records.

He released the 7" EP "Arise, My Lord" in 1996. He also participated in two other bands, Sarcophagus and Seeds of Hate. "Thy Dying Light" was recorded and was to be released at Head Not Found but the parent company Voices of Wonder refused to release due to the extremity of Judas Iscariot. It was later released by Moribund Records Cult.

Akhenaten moved from America to Germany and recorded "Of Great Eternity" which was released in 1997. The following two years he managed to release "Distant in Solitary Night" which was recorded back in 1996. He also signed a contract with the American label Red Stream. They had heard his new work "Heaven in Flames" and agreed to release it. In 2000 he released the MCD "Dethroned, Conquered and Forgotten".

Same year, a live album "Under the Black Sun" was released and a split 7" EP with Krieg, "To the Coming Age of Intolerance" in 2001.

In 2002, "To Embrace the Corpses Bleeding" and the MCD "Moonlight Butchery" were released, also the EPs "March of the Apocalypse" and "Midnight Frost". Shortly after, Akhenaten announced that he decided to end the band.

Judas Iscariot became one of the most important bands of USBM scene. Akhenaten was a great influence in the black metal, with many collaborations in bands like Krieg, Maniac Butcher, Nargaroth, Sarcophagus and many more.

Sodom - 2 Originals Of Sodom (Persecution Mania + In The Sign Of Evil / Obsessed By Cruelty) [2000]

German four-piece speed/thrash metal band, regarded as very influential to the modern black metal scene.

Sodom's original line-up consisted of Tom Angelripper, Bloody Monster and Aggressor. The band was initially formed by Tom as a desperate attempt to get out of having to work in coal mines in his home town of Gelsenkirchen. Taking inspiration from bands such as Motörhead, Tank, Venom and Accept, they released two demos which led to a record deal with Steamhammer (none of which were recorded with Bloody Monster, who was replaced by Chris Witchunter). Aggressor left the band shortly before releasing the In the Sign of Evil EP (generally regarded as an important early black metal release), and was replaced by Grave Violator, who did not last long himself, and left following the recording of "In The Sign Of Evil". A replacement was found in the form of Michael "Destructor" Wulf. They then went and recorded Obsessed by Cruelty, their full length debut. It featured music that was mostly in the same vein of In The Sign of Evil. Wulf did not last long himself, and later went and joined Kreator (this relationship would not last long either, and the man would later die in 1993 after a tragic motorcycle accident).

For the most part, the band was not taken seriously at first, as various press sources stated them as nothing more than "a second rate Venom clone with semi inventive lyrics". One member would change that. This member was Frank "Blackfire" Gosdzik, who came in to fill the empty guitar spot Wulf left behind thrash metal. Frank had convinced Tom that thrash metal was moving beyond the realms of the horror/occult/satanic themes of bands like Venom, and that themes such as politics, society, and war were being embraced. Tom was already very interested in various wars, yet viewed them as stupid and outright dumb. This new inspiration culminated into Frank's full length debut with the band, Persecution Mania. The new lyrical approach and increased musicianship on the part of Frank gave the band great praise (as well as a mascot Knarrenheinz, who appeared for the first time on Persecution Mania's cover), and they soon embarked on a tour of Europe with the Swiss thrash metal outfit Coroner. After touring for the better part of 1987 and 1988, the band returned to the studio to make another album. The final product was titled Agent Orange, and it sold 100,000 copies in Germany alone. This made Sodom famous, giving them world wide critical acclaim, and securing their place alongside Kreator and Destruction as one of the great three teutonic thrash metal bands. To this date, Agent Orange has sold more than any other German thrash metal album all over the world.

Incantation - Primordial Domination (2006)

New York's Incantation, formed by guitarist John McEntee, topped anything that had been done in the genre of vicious death-metal with their debut Onward to Golgotha (1992), a lo-fi album deliberately produced in a murky and even filthy way, but no less crushing and breakneck. Jim Roe's drumming was average at best, but Craig Pillard's vocals were a force of nature and McEntee's guitar was a weapon of mass destruction, and somehow the whole was devastating. The very fact that they were not as technical as others, and the doom elements, made them de facto the pioneers of an "ugly" subgenre of death-metal.

Darkthrone - 1988-2013 [compilation] 2xDVD-R 𝔟𝔬𝔬𝔱𝔩𝔢𝔤

The band that would become Darkthrone formed in late 1986 in Kolbotn, a small town south of Oslo. They were a death metal band by the name of Black Death whose members were Gylve Nagell, Ivar Enger and Anders Risberget. Their main inspirations were Autopsy, Venom, Hellhammer, Celtic Frost, Slayer and Nocturnus. In late 1987, the band changed their name to Darkthrone and were joined by Dag Nilsen. Ted Skjellum joined in spring of 1988. During 1988 and 1989, the band independently released four demo tapes: Land of Frost, A New Dimension, Thulcandra, and Cromlech.

They were subsequently signed to the independent record label Peaceville Records with a four-album contract. In 1990, they recorded their first studio album, Soulside Journey. Because of a small recording budget, the band could not afford the kind of studio they wanted but, thanks to the members of Nihilist and Entombed, they were able to record their album at Sunlight Studios. Although mainly death metal in style, there were some elements of black metal present in terms of artwork and songwriting.

Immediately following the release of this album, the band continued writing and recording new material, recording on tape until a full album was ready. These tracks were entirely instrumental but they demonstrated the band's gradual shift towards black metal. In 1996, the finished album Goatlord was released, with vocals added by Fenriz.

Dissection - Live at the Showcase Theatre, Corona, CA (22-03-96)

Dissection was a Swedish extreme metal band from Strömstad, formed in 1989 by guitarist, vocalist and main songwriter Jon Nödtveidt and bassist Peter Palmdahl. Despite a number of lineup changes, Dissection released The Somberlain in 1993 and Storm of the Light's Bane in 1995, before splitting up in 1997 due to Nödtveidt's imprisonment for complicity in the murder of Josef Meddour.

After his release, Nödtveidt reformed the band in 2004 with new members who he felt could "stand behind and live up to the demands of Dissection's Satanic concept." They released their third and final full-length album Reinkaos in April 2006, before disbanding that June. Nödtveidt said he had "reached the limitations of music as a tool for expressing what I want to express, for myself and the handful of others that I care about." Two months later, Nödtveidt committed suicide with a gun inside a circle of lit candles in his apartment in Hässelby.

Dissection released a number of live albums and EPs before its final dissolution, and played a central role in the development of Sweden's black metal and death metal scenes, particularly through the influence of the first two albums; it has sometimes been described as part of the Gothenburg scene.
