Mayhem & Burzum - Mayhem Versus Burzum [split] (2010) PROMO

 M A Y H E M

Founded by Jørn Stubberud (Necrobutcher), and Kjetil (Manheim) under the name Musta (Finnish for "black"), which they changed to Mayhem after Øystein Aarseth (Euronymous) joined in. The band name is taken from the Venom song, "Mayhem with Mercy".
During the early years, the band used either session vocalists Messiah or Maniac for live/studio commitments, and played either instrumentally, or with Necrobutcher or Euronymous on vocals during rehearsals.

By late 1987 both Manheim and Maniac had left the band, their positions were filled temporarily by members of Vomit, before vocalist Dead, and drummer Hellhammer took over in 1988.

In 1991, when Satanel disbanded, Vikernes revived his solo project, changing the name to Burzum (which translates to "darkness" in J.R.R. Tolkien's Black Speech, which is spoken by orcs and other creatures of Mordor). Handling all instruments and vocals by himself, he recorded Burzum's first four full-length albums in a span of just over one year. In addition to all that, he joined Mayhem on bass, as well.

The beginning (1997) - Sharing since 1996 the band Tenebrous Dominancy in which performed the role of drummer and bassist respectively, Koraxid and Azarath founded Grievance in May 1997, with the desire of practising modern Black Metal. The first demo arose in July, is a recording of an essay with a voice overdub on cassette audio. The demo was called "Por Entre a Escuridão Outonal". Koraxid Plays Drums and added Voices and Azarath plays Lead Guitar. The band's logo was designed in this summer, by Azarath. The band's name was given by Koraxid and comes from the lyrics of the track "The Burning Shadows of Silence" of the Album "In the Nightside Eclipse" from the Norwegian Black Metal Band Emperor. "... grievance of sadness, like the gift of sorrow."

The Experimental Times (1998-2000) - Grievance begins a new path, with the adding new members - Marco Tomé on Guitar, Azarath now plays Bass Guitar and voice. Koraxid keeps he's place in the drum throne, and the band is now accompanied by Sergio Pina on trumpet. The path of Black Metal seemed to have been put aside, now with a more experimental band, with a vast crossover metal style. The band started to play live in several places and festivals. Azarath goes out of the country in 2000 and the band slows down its activity for several years, with only sporadic rehearsals with the original line-up.

The New Millenium Sessions (2006-2008) - Grievance is now divided into two countries: Portugal (Caldas da Rainha) and Spain (Algeciras). The band's lineup is redesigned, with the recruiting of Enjendro in Bass Guitar, Koraxid stays on drums and Azarath plays Guitar and handles the Voice. The second demo of the band is recorded, intitled "The New Millenium Sessions" with only two tracks, that demonstrate the efforts made in the creation of new music, with the band returning to its original style - Black Metal. Two songs recorded in separate sessions, in 2006 and 2007, one in Algeciras (Spain) and another in Axe Farm Studios in Caldas da Rainha (Portugal). Due to the distance between the members, the band's activity slows down again...

Grievance Goes Solo (2011) - After several years of almost complete inactivity, Koraxid takes over the project, so that it may live on to see the light of day again, and release new material. This was made by mutual and friendly agreement with Azarath, as they both concluded that a band divided by 2 countries is very difficult to maintain, also both the members are occupied with other activities. Now the band's future is assured and Grievance will maintain its activity for years to come, as a solo statement.

“Retorno” - Full-Length - (2014) - The first full-length album of Grievance, released in February 2014 by the Brazilian Label Nyarlathotep Records. Composed in complete improvisation sessions in The winter of 2011/2012 and mixed in the summer of 2013, "Retorno" is a reverie of occultism, history and inner-struggle. Completely recorded and performed by Koraxid. Koraxid Photo Shoot (Including Cover) By Tiago Da Cruz. No Photoshop effects in the photos, all photography made by analog techniques, in a summer full moon night, 2012. Photo shoot location – Praya D’el Rey, Obidos – Portugal.

“Perante o Céu Infernal” - Single - (2016) - This track was created in one improvisation session solely by Koraxid, who recorded all instruments track by track In ESAD University Sound Studio at Caldas da Rainha (Old-school analogue sound capture and pre-mix), it was a result of an invitation made by students of the sound and image course: André Santos, Bruno Alves, Bruno Vieira and Filipe Nunes. It was reviewed, the lyrics, synth intro and voice were added in late 2015. Remixed and mastered in January 2016 by Koraxid at Axe Farm Studios. It is a stand-alone track for these motives, so it was decided to create a single which fits perfectly for the occasion and also leads for a new musical path in the Grievance sound, perfected in the following full-Length, “Pilar, Pedra e Faca”. Front Cover taken from Tiago da Cruz photo session for the album “Retorno”.

“Pilar, Pedra e Faca” Full-Length – (2017) – The recordings of this album began in September 2013, and were finished in September 2016. There were lots of personal situations blocking the release of this album, Koraxid’s participation in other projects (Medo, Zepyrus), recording and producing other bands in Axe Farm Studios and the creation of Stronghold (A Concert hall in Caldas da Rainha, now closed) were some of the causes of this delay. All of them eventually were dropped in favour of a continuing effort to follow the growth and consolidation of Grievance. All music, lyrics and voices were performed and written by Koraxid, except "Subliminar Voz Interior" - Music performed and written by Tiago da Neta. Special guests for this album: Tiago da Neta (Portuguese Guitar on tracks 06, 08 and 09) and Joaquim "Vulture" Moreira (Electric Bass Guitar in tracks 06 and 07). Front cover drawing by Duarte Cór. (2015).

The Latest Developments - Grievance is now preparing the CD release of “Pilar, Pedra e Faca”, the recording sessions of the 3rd full-length (still unnamed) started in the 31st of December 2016 and are progressing in a steady pace. The Band is being prepared to go live in 2018, with the adding of live members Mortuum in Drums, War Faust in Bass Guitar, Urutu in Rhythm Guitar and WrathWolf in Lead Guitar. Koraxid will be handling the voice in future live performances. The rehearsals started in June 2017.

Brujeria - Marijuana [EP] (1997)

Brujeria was formed at a party in 1989 in the spirit of creating a grindcore and death metal band representative of the Latino/Chicano community. Its members, the guitarist Dino Cazares, Jello Biafra, drummer Pat Hoed, bass guitarist Billy Gould and vocalist Juan Brujo, used pseudonyms as most were in other known bands.

Their first single, "¡Demoniaco!", was released in 1990. In 1992 "Machetazos" was released and with it came the band's first line-up change. Jello Biafra departed the group, Pinche Peach was introduced as an additional vocalist and Raymond Herrera took on the drums; Pat Hoed, the band's former drummer became a second vocalist. "Machetazos" and "El Patrón (song)" (1994) were produced and distributed through Jello Biafra's record label Alternative Tentacles.

The band was criticized from its inception for its lyrics about drugs, sex and Satanism. These topics, while the subjects of many other death metal acts, were inspired by the actions of Adolfo Constanzo, Cuban-American born Mexican drug smuggler, practitioner of Palo (religion) Mayombe, and serial killer.

The group started to become increasingly popular, but nevertheless, decided to remain anonymous and declined all offers to organize concerts (except on rare occasions), confounding supporters, who were eager to see them live. In 1997 came the EP Marijuana, featuring a cover-parody of the popular song "The Macarena" and four live songs from its first official concert.

Bathory - Bloodbath [Bootleg] (2010)

Bathory formed in Vällingby in 1983. Quorthon (then known as Ace, after Ace Frehley of Kiss), a seventeen-year-old guitarist, was joined by the bass guitarist Fredrik Melander and the drummer Jonas Åkerlund. According to Quorthon, he came up with the name after a visit to the London Dungeon, although Jonas states that it was taken from the Venom song "Countess Bathory". Their first recording deal came that same year, when Quorthon managed to secure the consent of Tyfon Grammofon's boss (Quorthon's father Börje Forsberg, although Quorthon himself spread rumors to keep the audience unaware of this) to record two tracks for the compilation Scandinavian Metal Attack in 1984. The tracks gained unexpected attention from fans. Soon afterward, Tyfon Grammofon contacted Quorthon and asked him to record a full-length album. The band considered several names before settling on Bathory, including Nosferatu, Natas, Mephisto, Elizabeth Bathory and Countess Bathory.

Although Venom's Black Metal, released in 1982, was the first record to coin the term, it was Bathory's early albums, featuring Satanic lyrics, low-fi production and an inhuman vocal style, that defined the genre. Many fans and reviewers have claimed Venom was an influence on Bathory; however, Quorthon has said in an interview with Kick Ass magazine in 1985 that he had not listened to Venom until after the first Bathory album was released. He has also stated the band's early work was influenced primarily by Black Sabbath, Motörhead and G. B. H.

Emperor - In The Nightside Eclipse (1994) Reissue [2008]

''In the Nightside Eclipse'' is the first studio album and fourth official release by Norwegian black metal band Emperor, released in 1994 through Candlelight Records. It was their only album to feature drummer Faust and one-time bassist Tchort. Considered a landmark in the black metal scene, the album has been ranked by critics as one of the most influential albums of the genre.

Emperor were known as one of the most infamous Norwegian black metal bands during the early and mid 1990s. Samoth was jailed 16 months for taking part in church burnings with Varg Vikernes (Burzum), along with other members of the Norwegian black metal scene. Drummer Faust was jailed for church burning and for the stabbing and murder of a homosexual man in 1992 (he was never suspected for it until 2 years later when he was arrested in 1994).

Played their first gig on April 13th, 1992, alongside Enslaved, Algol, and Infinite Decay.

The group disbanded in 2001 because they felt they had lived up to everything they wanted to with Emperor. They have received "legendary" status, toured worldwide, have a large catalog of releases, and they didn't want to be known as another group that "never knows when to quit making music" as well as creative incompatibilities (Ihsahn was becoming more inspired by the progressive tendencies he would showcase in his solo work, whereas Samoth was exploring a technical death metal inspiration he would utilize in Zyklon).

The band reunited in 2005 to play at Scream Magazine's anniversary festival and to headline the 2006 editions of Norway's Inferno Festival and Germany's Wacken Open Air. In an interview with UK Magazine Terrorizer, Ihsahn hinted at the possibility of another Emperor album, but stated that Emperor is now a side project.

In 2013, another reunion was announced, with original drummer Faust, to headline Bloodstock Festival in 2014, and the 25th anniversary of the Wacken Open Air festival in the same year. This reunion also marked the 20th anniversary of "In the Nightside Eclipse".

In 2016, another reunion was announced for 2017 in which the band will perform "Anthems To The Welkin At Dusk" album in its entirety to celebrate the LP's 20th anniversary.
