Intestine Baalism - An Anatomy of the Beast (1997)

Intestine Baalism is a term for the Sumerian god of the harvest (or Baal).

In 1991, Intestine Baalism was formed in the suburbs of Tokyo, Japan by Seiji Kakuzak and other local musicians.

They started as a thrash metal band, but soon changed their style to true death metal and began playing at local clubs in Tokyo. Intestine Baalism's first milestone was the release of demo The Energumenus in 1994, which quickly sold over 500 copies. Encouraged by the good response to the demo, Intestine Baalism got an album deal, and in 1997, their first album, An Anatomy Of The Beast, was released by Repulse Records. An Anatomy Of The Beast was lauded by underground metalheads around the world.

However, Intestine Baalism were forced to stop due to an unstable line-up and other unexpected troubles. After a long silence, they came back to the death metal scene in 2003 with their 2nd album, Banquet in the Darkness, released by Blackend Records. Banquet in the Darkness and Intestine Baalism were featured and reviewed in over 50 media publications.

The band succeeded in spreading their unique death metal style with melody and aggressiveness. In their long history, the line-up of Intestine Baalism has changed quite dramatically. At various times, they have had a full-time vocalist and a third guitarist (for a short time, they performed live with triple guitars) but by the recording of the 3rd album, the line-up became fixed to the current members. Ultimate Instinct was recorded in 2007-2008. This is a concept album, the ideas for which took Seiji a great amount of effort to create and develop.

Suffocation - Despise The Sun [EP] (1998) CD (Re 2002)

Suffocation are widely recognized major innovators of death metal. They had a massive influence on the genre and pioneered the balance between brutal and technical sounds commonly heard in modern death metal. Frank Mullen is considered as one of the most emblematic death metal vocalists as well as one of the first to use a very deep "death growl" vocal style.

There was an earlier "incarnation" of Suffocation existing from 1988 to around 1990 which featured vocalist Frank Mullen, bassist Josh Barohn, guitarists Guy Marchais and Todd German and Barohn's friend on drums. By 1990, the band had hired guitarists Terrance Hobbs and Doug Cerrito along with drummer Mike Smith, members of the local band Mortuary which had already disbanded.
The band split-up after Despise the Sun and reformed in 2002 with some line-up changes. Doug Cerrito was asked to join when the band reformed, but apparently he wasn't interested. Mike Smith left the band again in 2012 due to personal differences with other members and was replaced by Dave Culross (who had previously played with the band on Despise The Sun). Culross was later replaced by Kevin Talley.

Human Waste was the first CD ever released on Relapse Records, though they aren't the first band released on the label (they first released a bunch of 7" singles). It is the first printed and distributed CD by Relapse.

Jig-Ai - Rising Sun Carnage (2014)

Jigai was a traditional method of ritual suicide for women in Japan.
The band's artwork and lyrical themes are both based off of Guro, a genre of hentai (anime porn) which is characterised by extremely violent images of anime characters (often female) being mutilated in a sexually appealing way.

Jig-Ai is a Goregrind band from Prague. They play very hard goregrind, which they mix with Death Metal elements. Typical for the band is the exclusively guttural singing. The pitch of the pig squeals and growls of the singers is pitched down by pitch shifter, which additionally alienates the already dehumanized sound singing. This animal and bubbling song is also called "Frog Noises". The name and music was influenced by Ero Guro, a special kind of hentai with the focus on the mutilation of women. "Jigai" is the outdated Japanese word for suicide.storyAfter Burák's old band disbanded, he started a nameless project with Petrasek and Brain in 2004. After a few rehearsals the project was put out of time. In 2005, when Štefy joined the band and replaced Petrasek at the drums, they started again. They were playing four songs for the promo CD. In 2006 her first album Jig-Ai was released at Bizarre Leprous Production. After the release they gave concerts in the Czech Republic and other European countries and played in the Grind Invasion tour in Germany. In 2007, the group prepared for the second album and went to the Grind Tour De Pologne through Poland, in addition to some other concerts. In 2008 they entered the Russian Minitour of Katalepsy and released their second album titled Katana Orgy.

Setherial - Firestorms [7''EP] (2013)

Setherial, one of Sweden’s oldest surviving Black Metal bands, was founded by Mysteriis and Devothan in 1993. Their first offering, “A Hail to the Faceless Angels”, which was released in 1994, demonstrated to the underground scene that Setherial was a force to be reckoned.
After this highly-acclaimed cassette, the band entered the studio again in 1995 to record the now classic EP “För Dem Mitt Blod”. This EP displayed a higher level of musicianship and an even deeper dedication to the ever-growing northern darkness. In September, 1995, after getting attention from Napalm Records, Setherial entered the infamous Abyss Studio to record their first full-length album, “Nord”. The album received a massive response from the underground, but no tour was organised to support the album.
With a new line-up, Setherial entered Ballerina Studios to record their second full-length album, “Lords of the Nightrealm”, an album Napalm Records released in 1998. This album showed a more aggressive side of the band. To further support the release, a successful headline European tour was conducted together with Malignant Eternal and In Battle.
The following year, Setherial released “Hell Eternal”, their fastest and most sinister album yet. This recording once again featured a different line-up than its predecessor. Wrath (of Naglfar fame) and Themgoroth (who had previously been involved with Dark Funeral) shared vocal duties. After the release of “Hell Eternal”, Setherial was almost put to rest due to a break-in at their rehearsal place and line-up troubles. During this period Mysteriis and Kraath joined forces with their former drummer Zathanel in a project called Blackwinds.
Setherial's last album on Napalm Records came in 2003. “From the Ancient Ruins” featured unreleased songs and the classic “A Hail to the Faceless Angels” demo. A presentation of old ghosts.
That same year, Setherial signed a deal with Swedish label Regain Records and they once again entered Abyss Studio to record their comeback album, “Endtime Divine”. This was the last album that featured Wrath on vocals.
In 2006, after yet another line-up change, Setherial entered Abyss Studio one final time to record “Death Triumphant”. This was an album that certainly showcased a more technical side of the band. Shortly after the release of “Death Triumphant”, Setherial decided to do live shows again, almost a decade since they last appeared on stage. Between 2006 and 2009 the
band focused on performing live as much as possible to show the underground that Setherial was back for good.
In 2009, the band started to work on their next album, “Ekpyrosis”. Not at all impressed with the standard of Abyss Studio, the band recorded everything in their private studio, Black Scythe. By doing this, Setherial was able to have total control over everything in the recording process, resulting in the best production in their career. With no limitations - such as sound engineers with tight schedules and / or financial issues - Setherial was finally able to record an album and release it when they felt it was ready. “Ekpyrosis” was released the following year,
2010, and received a very positive response from both press and fans. To further support the album, a music video was made for the song “A world in Hell”. Tours and festival shows followed the release of the album.
One year later, released an EP called “Treason” through the South American label Goathorned Productions. This little slice of hell featured one unreleased track from the “Ekpyrosis” session and a Zyklon-B cover as well as stunning artwork.
In 2011, Setherial decided to part ways with Regain Records. It didn’t take long to find a new and reliable label though and after some negotiating Setherial started to collaborate with the French label Debemur Morti Productions.

Black Witchery - Upheaval of Satanic Might (2005) [LP reissue 2016]

Black Witchery signed to Osmose Productions who released the second malicious attack in the form of "Upheaval of Satanic Might". This release contains 9 tracks of Black Speed Desecration Metal and will certainly uphold the band's infamy for being the most extreme Black Metal in the US. This album followed the path of it's predecessor but displayed the band in an even more violent and barbaric fashion ....with more traditional hymns and unrelenting darkness and savagery, this album easily entered into the ranks of being  another demonic entity that would serve as a monument of real ugly, raw and grim black metal in the true style of darkness which is found rarely these days... "Upheaval..." was recorded and produced entirely by the band (with help of longtime heathen comrade Kris Cook (who had worked with the band on the split years ago)...this gave the band the ability to properly obtain their vision without the presence of the music industry leeches ideas...complete with grim and horrific Moyen cover and demonic anthems such as "Holocaust Summoning", "Blood Oath" and "Heretic Death Call", the album has once again proved Black Witchery to be the most desecrating and savage black metal band in the US by far.
