Possessed ‎- Agony In Paradise (2004)

Possessed are hailed as the godfathers of the death metal genre. They are considered by some to be the first death metal band and that the name of the genre comes from their first demo, entitled Death Metal.

Possessed was formed by guitarist Mike Torrao, drummer Mike Sus. Jeff Becerra from Blizzard came into the band, and soon was joined by second guitarist Brian Montana. This lineup recorded the 1984 demo Death Metal and also an appearance on the Metal Blade Records Metal Massacre VI compilation with the song "Swing of the Axe".

At this time, Brian Montana was let go due to his subpar guitar playing, and also because he did not fit in well with the band's image. Larry Lalonde, previously in Blizzard with Jeff, was brought in, and after some gigs with Exodus and other bands, the band was signed by Combat Records, and the legendary Seven Churches was recorded. After some US touring with Slayer, Venom, and others, a second album was released, Beyond the Gates. This album led to a European tour with Voivod and Deathrow, and a US tour with Dark Angel, the legendary Gates of Darkness tour, as Dark Angel was touring in support of Darkness Descends.

Tensions were rising within the band and a final EP, The Eyes of Horror, was released. There were two gigs with Megadeth, and then Possessed broke up, with Mike Torrao putting the band on hold. Larry went to Blind Illusion, where he found Les Claypool and founded Primus, of all bands!

In 1991, Torrao recruited Bob Yost on bass, Walter Ryan on drums, and Mark Strausberg on guitar, and recorded a demo tape and played three gigs. Then, Yost left, and was replaced by Paul Perry, and a second demo was recorded in 1993, and that was just about the end. Jeff Becerra was shot in a robbery and paralyzed from the chest down, but has had a successful career since. Mike Torrao works as a landscaper and has some musical projects happening too, while Mike Sus got a degree in psychology, and is a counselor in a drug treatment clinic. Possessed reformed with Jeff's long-time friends from Sadistic Intent filling in on all instruments, while Jeff only handled vocals due to his disability.

After the album Beyond the Gates was released, Larry LaLonde started to have guitar lessons with Joe Satriani, who ended up producing the EP The Eyes of Horror, which marked a change in direction for the band. The Satanic themes they had become noted for were almost completely absent, and the songs had more of a thrash metal style than their earlier death metal. ''Storm in My Mind'' was written by Lalonde, the rest by Torrao who had written most of the band's earlier material too with Becerra writing most of the lyrics only.

Carcass ‎- Reek Of Putrefaction (1988)

The above cover is the original "gore" cover, which was later banned and replaced by a "clean" cover, which was drawings of a human similar to those found in biology books. The exact same cover was used for "Symphonies Of Sickness" except with a different color scheme. In the year 2002/2003, the gore covers were put back.

Carcass was first formed as a school band by Bill Steer and Ken Owen that soon after disbanded. Steer then joined the D-beat band Disattack with drummer Middie, Paul on bass and Pek on vocals. After releasing a four track demo entitled ''A Bomb Drops'' ... in 1986, the bass player left the band and was replaced by Jeff Walker, formerly guitarist and vocalist of the Electro Hippies. Vocalist Andrew Pek changed his name to Sanjiv after a visit to India. At about the same time, Bill Steer joined Napalm Death (replacing Justin Broadrick) and recorded the second side of what became Napalm Death's first album, ''Scum''. Walker also designed the cover art for ''Scum''.

Disattack then changed its name to Carcass as the group changed musical direction. This led to a change in drummer and saw Ken Owen join the band. In April 1987, they recorded the ''Flesh Ripping Sonic Torment'' demo, the only Carcass recording featuring vocalist Sanjiv, who left shortly after. Walker, Steer and Owen shared vocal duties for the debut album, which was done in only four days. Despite the primitive production values of Carcass's debut ''Reek of Putrefaction'', with which the band was very displeased, it became a favourite of Radio 1 DJ John Peel. Due to his interest, they were asked to participate in their first Peel Session in 1989, where they debuted new material for their second album. ''The Peel Session'' was released as an EP with the band members adopting pseudonyms: K. Grumegargler, J. Offalmangler, and W.G. Thorax Embalmer. Also that year, Steer and Walker appeared as members of Lister's fictional band Smeg and the Heads in an episode of Red Dwarf.

Massacre - From Beyond (1991) [Reissue 2000]

The band started as a power/heavy/speed metal band playing cover songs until Kam Lee and Allen West joined, upon which, they converted their style to death metal. Kam Lee is considered an influential innovator in extreme vocals: many credit him as inventing the characteristic "death growl" (which is first heard on Massacre's 1986 "Aggressive Tyrant" demo).
They disbanded and re-united again several times. In 1987, Rozz, Andrews and Butler joined Death, but by 1991 the three later rejoined with Rick Rozz (guitar) and Massacre released their debut album ''From Beyond'' on Earache Records, followed by an EP a year later (featuring Cronos of Venom). After the release of the EP the band split up again. Rozz reformed the band in 1993 and released a new album ''Promise'' in 1996. That same year, Kam Lee left the band during post-production of ''Promise'' due to being dissatisfied with the songs and his performance.
Kam Lee, Terry Butler and Steve Swanson  along with Sam Williams and Curtis Beeson temporarily reunited as Massacre in 2006. Butler, Lee, Beeson & Williams then founded Denial Fiend with Blaine Cook replacing Lee and Rob Rampy replacing Beeson in 2008. In 2011, Butler and Rozz reunited for an anniversary tour of ''From Beyond'' beginning January 14 in Tampa, Florida.

Abyssic Hate - Suicidal Emotions (2000)

Abyssic Hate was formed as a one-man project back in the year 1993. The band's name is taken from the Darkthrone song "In the Shadow of the Horns". The concept of Abyssic Hate revolves around the incessant belief [which is proven correct time and time again by the various sub-humans who exist on this worthless planet] that: ''99.9% of humans should be terminated''. The human race is the most absolute abomination in the history of creation, and with an exceedingly small amount of redeemable features.
Most releases of Abyssic Hate are produced in extremely limited.

-Tracklist:

01. Depression-Part I       12:39
02. Betrayed                   11:44
03. Depression-Part II      07:23
04. Despondency            17:32

 -Line up

- Shane Rout:  All instruments, vocals, lyrics, songwriting.

Written during 1996 & 1998.
