C H A K A L
Chakal was formed in early 1985 in Minas Gerais by William Wiz (drums),
Destroyer (bass), and Mark (guitars). With the addition of Sgôto on
vocals, the band made their first live appearance at the "Metal BH II"
festival on December 10th, 1985. Other bands who performed at the
festival included Sagrado Inferno, Armmagedon, Sepultura, and Minotauro.
In 1987, the band released their Abominable Anno Domini LP, and began a successful career throughout Brazil, with concerts in Belo Horizonte, São Paulo, and Recife.
In 1990, the album The Man His Own Jackal was released, which
demonstrated more complex song structures, riffs, and lyrics. While
those in Brazil praised the creative effort, international critics
questioned and criticized the band's originality.
In 1993, on their Death Is a Lonely Business album, the band flirted with a death metal-oriented sound. After a period of inactivity, they became active again in 2000 with Deadland, which marked the return of the vocalist Korg.
M U T I L A T O R
Formerly known as Desaster, but changed their name to Mutilator before releasing their first demo.
According to Rodrigo Neves, Mutilator went on hiatus in 1993 and the 2001 reunion was only a false restart.
Reunited for E Aí Cara? Metal Fest on April 7th, 2018 in Belo Horizonte,
Brazil. This is a permanent reunion, according to Ricardo Neves.

Guitarist and growler Wagner Lamounier (Antichrist to his friends) started Sarcófago in Belo Horizonte, Brazil in 1985, shortly after being booted out of fellow death metal upstarts Sepultura, and igniting a bitter rivalry that would rage for years to come. The band's lineup was in constant flux early on, but by the end of the following year, Sarcófago had managed to record three promising demos, namely Satanic Lust, Black Vomit, and the notorious Christ's Death, all of which circulated in the tape-trading underground and helped the band gather a small but rabid following.
Bassist Gerald Minelli (aka Incubus), guitarist Zéber (Butcher), and drummer Eduardo (D.D. Crazy) were soon on board and Sarcófago signed with local metal imprint Cogumelo Records, which issued their debut full-length, I.N.R.I., in July 1987.
According to Wagner, the band split up in 1987 after recording the I.N.R.I. album and reformed in 1989.
H O L O C A U S T O
In
the beginning of their career, they incorporated a Nazi aesthetic,
though they only did that in order to shock people (much like Sepultura, Escola Alemã, and others). Their style is somewhere between death, black and thrash metal, before such distinctions were drawn. Rodrigo Magalhães did lead vocals from first demo until "Campo de Extermínio".
After their first album, Holocausto moved towards a crossover/thrash
sound. On "Tozago as Deismno", they mixed heavy guitars, with industrial
and doom influences, along with heavy experimentalism. Afterwards, they
changed their name to PexbaA and started to play avantgarde jazz/rock.
The band reformed in 2004, playing thrash metal, and returned to their early extreme style with 2016's "War Metal Massacre."

This is where it all began. For the first time ever Chuck Schuldiner’s pre-Death band Mantas’s recordings have been officially collected into one fully authorized compilation. This is the first time that these recordings have been legitimately available since their original release as the Death By Metal demo tape (1984).
They had only one bass player, Dave Tett, who was only featured on the Emotional rehearsal. They remained bassless until they changed their name to Death.

CD compiles the two versions of the Death by Metal demo. When Mantas
morphed into Death, this was reissued as their first official demo. It
also includes five tracks from an early 1984 rehearsal known as
Rehearsal #3.

King Fowley and guitarist Doug Souther started the band in 1984 in Arlington, Virginia with a goal to "out-thrash Slayer". They experimented with a number of band names, formations and styles before settling on the Deceased name and first real lineup in 1986 consisting of Fowley on drums and vocals, Mark Adams joining Souther on guitar, and bassist Rob Sterzel. Tragedy struck the group on March 3, 1988 when Sterzel and several friends, including the brother of guitarist Doug Souther, were killed in a hit-and-run accident. Les Snyder became the bassist later that year. Souther quit and was replaced by Mike Smith in 1991. The lineup of King Fowley, Mike Smith, Mark Adams, and Les Snyder lasted over a decade and recorded some of the group's most celebrated works. Changes began to reshape the band in 2003, when Dave "Scarface" Castillo stepped in as drummer, enabling Fowley to be frontman and vocalist. Mark Adams left in 2007 and was replaced by Shane Fuegal. Mike Smith retired from live performances in 2006, but remains a key songwriter and studio guitarist. Les Snyder relocated to Texas in 2009 and usually performs live for shows close to home.
Since leaving Relapse, Deceased have continuously released new material, including As the Weird Travel On (Thrash Corner Records) in 2005, an independent vinyl-only live album entitled Blood Orgy in College Park - Stalking the Airwaves in 2010, and the more recent LP Surreal Overdose in 2011 on their own Shrieks From the Hearse label in conjunction with PATAC Records. The November 2012 issue of Decibel contained a flexi-disc of an exclusive new track "The Luck of the Corpse". A split 12" with the band Conceived By Hate, titled "The Figure of Uneasiness", was released in the fall of 2014 on El Salvador's Morbid Skull label, featuring four live-in-the-studio recordings with the current live lineup. A new album, entitled Ghostly White, was released in 2018 through Hell's Headbangers Records. Drummer David "Scarface" Castillo sadly drowned in November 2018. The band knew Dave would want them to carry on and found a drummer in friend Amos Rifkin and played live gigs all of 2019 as well as releasing a tribute live recording of one of Dave's last shows with the band called 'Death Metal from the Dave" to honor him. In June 2020 they released "Rotten to the Core volume 2 (the Nightmare Continues)" an all covers release of old punk/hardcore songs on Malt Soda Records.

One of the first thrash/death metal bands that started out in the early
1980’s that combined hard core punk with screaming heavy thrash and
death metal.
Slaughter was formed in August of 1984 by Terry Sadler (vocals/bass
guitar), Dave Hewson (vocals & chainsaw guitars) and Ron
Sumners (drums) in Toronto, Canada and were one of the first, original,
death metal bands to emerge in the early 1980’s, pioneering daze of
thrash/death and doom metal! Slaughter often mixed old, school, hardcore
and punk rock with thrash, death and speed metal that sounded like
Black Sabbath playing punk rock. "Bloody Karnage" was their first demo
tape recorded on New Years Eve 1984 which led to their signing with
Diabolic Force/Fringe Records for the recording of their second demo;
"Surrender Or Die".
This demo became heavily traded amongst
the early ..80’s, tape trading scene and blasted open the doors for the
Canadian,thrash and death metal scene which later spawned such other
bands as "Sacrifice", "Razor" and "Infernal Majesty". In early (January)
1986, Slaughter joined up briefly with the late, Chuck Schuldiner
(Death/Control Denied) to form a 4 piece but Chuck quickly left to reform
his band Death... Febuary 1986, Slaughter signed a record deal with
Diabolic Force/Fringe and recorded their debut album, "Strappado".
After many delays and record company turmoil the album was released a
full year later. Sounding like Black Sabbath mixed with a freight train
with old-school punk/hardcore influences, the band forged one of the
heaviest,doom-thrash metal albums to belch out of the legendary
1980’s, early metal scene! Drummer Ron Sumners left the band in late 1986
and was replaced by lunatic drummer, Brian Lourie.
In the
years that followed, Dave,Terry and Brian experimented with a second
guitarist named Bobby Sadzak (ex-Leathal Presence) and recorded, studio
tracks for an upcoming second album that was to be called "Paranormal".
This album was to be a departure from the hardcore/punk inspired thrash
from the "Strappado" album and taking, previous songs like "Nocturnal
Hell" and "Tortured Souls" and giving them an updated sound with less
violent lyrics and noise and more a speed metal sound with
deeper,paranormal lyrics.
Just as the 2nd album was to be
released (late 1989), bassist and founding member, Terry Sadler left the
band and all plans were scrapped. Original guitarist and founding
member; Dave Hewson, along with Brian Lourie and Bobby Sadzak, recruited
new bassist; Mike Dalton to form a new band called; Strappado to pick up
where Slaughter left off! The Strappado band (1990-1994) recorded two
demo tapes;"Not Dead Yet" and "Fatal Judgement", before disbanding in
1994!
Slaughter reared it’s ugly head,once again,in 1996 for a
one-time recording of a cover version of Celtic Frosts classic tune;
"Dethroned Emperor" for a tribute Cd on Dwell Records called; "In Memory
Of Celtic Frost". In 2000, Slaughter re-released their classic
"Surrender Or Die" demo on CD through Utopion Vision Music... Slaughter
signed with Nuclear Blast Records in 2001 and remixed and remastered
their legendary "Strappado" LP for a special Digi-CD release with 4
bonus,studio tracks, one hidden, rehearsal track (a Slayer cover) and 13
live tracks from their very, first gig from March 1985.Very rough and
raw-uncensored! Also in 2001, Slaughter and
Nuclear Blast released the second album, "Not Dead Yet/Paranormal"with 4
bonus, demo tracks from 1988 plus 4 rare, live tracks from 1986.
